The R2c’s 125mm (5 in.) midrange and 25mm (1 in.) aluminium dome tweeter Uni-Q matches the rest of the range perfectly. Twin 130mm (5.25 in.) bass drivers deliver the dynamics that great movies need.
Within a home theatre environment, the centre speaker is arguably the hardest working. It helps to drive the story by handling vocal duties and most of the on-screen action. With the same Uni-Q as the main speakers, featuring a 125mm (5 in.) midrange and 25mm (1 in.) aluminium dome tweeter, R2c recreates every nuance, whilst matching the rest of the range tonally. The twin 130mm (5.25 in.) bass drivers allow the R2c to dig even deeper, ensuring that the audience doesn’t miss a beat.
Uni-Q
Placing the tweeter in the acoustic centre of the midrange cone brings the acoustic ideal of a single point source closer to realisation. The new R Series benefits from a new 12th generation of the legendary Uni-Q which has been extensively designed using KEF’s in-house simulation and analysis tools. KEF’s engineers have been able to dramatically reduce colouration through reducing resonance in the minute gaps between Uni-Q’s separate elements. The resulting sound is purer, more precise and makes stereo imaging far more believable.

MAT is a highly complex maze-like structure, where each of the intricate channels efficiently absorbs a specific frequency. When combined, the channels act as an acoustic black hole, absorbing 99% of the unwanted sound that comes from the rear of the tweeter, eliminating the resulting distortion and providing a purer, more natural acoustic performance.
